Hi there
I make art that is about Gooey America. This is Gooey America in my own words;
Gooey America is the term I created to describe blocking out and forgetting money and social standards. I'm left seeing how silly we all look doing what we do every day; it's almost nonsensical. What we are left with I like to call “Goo”. I abstract imagery of magazines, jewelry, Snapchat, and fitness diagrams, using massive layering of kinetic energy. These abstractions may appear to be “trash” or “nonsense” at first glance. By succumbing to “Gooey”, viewers dissolve their preconceptions about money and standards to see the “nonsense” through a more humorous and therefore human lens.
I enjoy reading about yoga more than doing it and I enjoy lifting weights more than I enjoy reading about it. My favorite artists right now are are Joseba Eskubi, Jasper Johns, Katherine Bernhardt, B0nezone, Simone Evans, and Anna Uddenberg.
The detail image above is of my paintings called "America is smiling!". I was taught how (but not why) to smile and upkeep the pearly white, that is "best" complimented with sparkly jewelry. (See “Red on Gray” paintings)
Thanks always for looking
Adiah
